Stronger Together:
Partnering for Secure Communities

At REJIS, we’re proud to have earned the trust of more than 300 agencies and organizations throughout Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois. To ensure that we consistently provide our clients with the best possible technology solutions, we have formed strategic partnerships with companies and organizations across a range of industries.

Government

As a government agency, REJIS knows all too well the challenges of working within a governmental structure. We’re expert at navigating the regulatory, budgetary, and administrative constraints faced by government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. In support of our mutual mission of ensuring public safety, we partner with the governments of Saint Louis County, St. Louis City, Jefferson County, MO, the City of Kansas City, MO, Bi-State Development, and many others.

Research & Innovation

In addition to the hundreds of governments and organizations that we serve, REJIS partners on a number of projects locally and nationally to further enhance data security and public safety.

Firearm Inquiry Statistics (FIST 2023)

The Firearm Inquiry Statistics (FIST) project was launched in 1995 as a joint effort between REJIS and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). Developed to provide a national estimate of the number of firearm transfer and permit applications received and denied pursuant to federal and state laws, the project also collects data on reasons for denials of firearm applications and on law enforcement actions against denied persons. We collect data from federal and state agency reports as well as a survey of over 1,000 state and local agencies that conduct background checks on firearm transfer and permit applicants. The project has produced numerous publications, including a series of reports entitled Background Checks for Firearm Transfers. For more information and a partial list of publications, visit the BJS website.

Body Worn Cameras (BWC)

To aid law enforcement efforts to institute the use of Body Worn Cameras (BWC), REJIS is supporting a federally funded grant to outfit officers from eight local municipal police departments with cameras and evidence management software. REJIS is managing policy development, vendor selection and testing, and video storage. After a final device is selected, we’ll begin training on BWC policy and use of the devices. We’re also exploring the technical requirements for storing video footage on our servers for police departments that are not participating in this grant.
