Application with 1st Annual Award for
Mobile Development

The Redmond Developer News (RDN) recognized REJIS’ Mobile Ticketing application with its first annual RDN Innovator Award in the Mobile Development category. Started in 2006 the Redmond Developer News joined 1105 Media’s award-winning Redmond Media Group with a focus exclusively on news and product coverage serving corporate development managers working with Microsoft tools and technologies. The first annual Innovator Awards, made in June 2008, recognized one application in each of four categories: Pure Windows, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Collaboration, and Mobile Development.

The RDN award recognizes REJIS’ use of Microsoft’s .NET Framework to develop an application that supports the preparation of a summons or ticket, by a law enforcement officer in a mobile environment and the subsequent docketing of that case with the court of jurisdiction. While the violator may view the act of receiving a ticket as a single step process, there are actually several steps involved.  Mobile Ticketing brings automation to the process with an emphasis on the efficient capture and reuse of information to reduce the total time required for the activity and to minimize the opportunity to introduce keying errors.

The application integrates the preparation of a ticket with legacy systems used to make inquiries of regional, state and national systems for wanted/missing persons and stolen vehicles as well as operator and vehicle licensing information. Other interfaces support accuracy in charge descriptions and documenting the location of occurrence. An interface with the court supports the electronic transfer of the case information to the court for automatic addition of a case to a docket. The collection of information for mandated reporting of vehicle stops by law enforcement officers and reporting of judicial dispositions to licensing the authority is a key part of the application.

By addressing the complete process, starting with the preparation to issue a ticket and continuing through updating the municipal court system and completing related law enforcement and court reporting forms, this end-to-end solution providing benefits for the violator, police officer, court personnel and the general citizenry.
